Transition To Color Television

Submitted : Spring 2014

The relationship of Fourier transformation series and color television signals was used in the development of color television. The Fourier series is the repetition/sum of sinusoids which transforms time into frequency, and the television signal is the repetition/scanning of sinusoids which transforms horizontal and vertical lines into frequency. In order to add color into the television signal without changing the bandwidth, a second scanning is done which fills in some of the holes left by the first scan of horizontal lines. This process is called interlaced scanning. This report will show an example of the importance of Fourier Series in a situation Electrical Engineers faced in the past.
