Effect of Air Resistance on a Soccer Ball

by Tasfiq Alam

Submitted : Spring 2014

The purpose of this project is to quantify the effect of air resistance on a soccer ball. Euler method has been used to calculate the x and y distance of the ball in presence of air resistance and also with no air resistance. The result for the case of no air resistance has been checked by using hand calculation and graphs are plotted to see the difference in x and y distance, with and without air resistance. From the results it can be concluded that air resistance has effects on the distance travelled by the ball. The ball goes much further in the case of no air resistance than when air resistance in present.
