Analyzing Solar Farm Production

by Zachary Zambito

Submitted : Spring 2014

The goal of this project is to determine the total power production, peak production, and maximum ramp rate requirements of a backup generator of the solar farm under the jurisdiction of The Orlando Utilities Commission. Using data collected from the solar farm through the course of three days (July 27, 2012 – July 29, 2012), we are able to calculate the average total power production of the solar farm to be 37.928 MW-hr; the peak production to be around 1:30 pm; and the required maximum ramp rate of the backup generator to be 0.675413 MW/hr; all through the use of polynomial regression as well as various integration and differentiation techniques.
