Effects of Air Resistance

by Jonathan Casiano

Submitted : Fall 2013

This project was made to show the effects that air resistance has on a falling object. This is a very important concept that a lot of people tend to ignore when thinking about the speed at which something will land when dropped, and the time it’ll take for it to land. A pollen grain will be used as the object. This will show an extremely drastic change in time taken to fall when considering the drop with and without air resistance. Equations of motion were made for both cases. The final velocity for the grain without air resistance was -14m/s, while the final velocity with air resistance was -.01m/s.
