Sizing Of An Automotive Clutch

by Richard Wade

Submitted : Fall 2013

Our objective in this paper is to solve for the sizing of an automotive clutch for a particular application by creating a second order differential equation. We will develop an expression for the torque in terms of coefficient of friction μ, Max Pressure Pmax , Outer Radius Ro and Inner Radius Ri using the equations given for differential torque, differential contact force, radial pressure, and differential area.
