Initial Conditions and Dynamics of the Ricker Model

by Lukas Nabergall

Submitted : Fall 2013

The Ricker equation is utilized in fishery population dynamics to model the size of a fishery population after a set amount of time, given a certain carrying capacity, initial population size and intrinsic growth rate. We derive a solution for the Ricker model and proceed to analyze the dependency of population size on carrying capacity and initial population size. This dependency is also compared with the earlier logistic model for fishery populations as well as a new population model from demography.
