Academic Advising
The Department of Mathematics offers advising services for current and
prospective students.
Students should seek advice (and not just from fellow students) on
course of study, curriculum, and other academic matters.
Typically, students interested in mathematics should talk to mathematics
professors about courses, about academic programs, and about careers.
We encourage students to consult with
professors
of this department.
In addition, we have some designated advisors:
- The undergraduate advisors are Fernando
Burgos and Scott
Rimbey,
and they can assist undergraduate students. Their hours are listed on
the
schedule, which will change by semester. Scott
Rimbey is also the Associate Chair of the Department, and can assist
with class and classroom-related problems. Students may also consult
the
Office of Academic Advising for information on university policy. For
problems involving study habits or personal problems, students are advised
to contact the Counseling Center.
- Students seeking admission to the graduate program are advised to contact
the department. The Graduate Program Coordinator,
Sarina Maldonado, and the Graduate Admissions Director, Natasha
Jonoska, can assist prospective graduate students. In addition, the
Graduate Program Director, Masahiko
Saito
can assist current graduate students. And again, the Associate Chair, Scott
Rimbey, can assist with class and classroom-related problems.
For more information on our programs, consult the
Undergraduate
or Graduate program
pages.
